Message from Principal
Skyline Families,
As we step into mid-May, it’s hard to believe we’re in the final stretch of the school year! With just four days for seniors and two weeks for all students, now is the time to stay focused, support one another, and finish strong. Let’s make these last weeks our best yet!
Teacher Appreciation Week: This week, we celebrated Staff Appreciation Week — a wonderful opportunity to recognize the incredible teachers and staff who go above and beyond every day for our students.
Falcons Demonstrate Excellence: I am absolutely thrilled to announce the winners of the 2025-2026 Multilingual Essay Contest! This year, we were deeply moved by the powerful stories submitted. Each essay beautifully captured the essence of how being bilingual is truly a superpower, showcasing the unique strength and perspective it brings to our world.
Please join us in celebrating our incredible Skyline High School winners for the entire district:
High School Division placers for the district
- 1st Place: Fernando Gurrola
- 3rd Place: Diane Perez Tomas
We are so proud of these talented students for their hard work and for sharing their voices with us. #WeAreSkylineEveryDay!
Congressional Art Winners: Huge congratulations to our incredibly talented artists who represented Skyline at the 2nd District Congressional Art Show! We are so proud of Chloe Zamora, Mimi Turrill, Lexi Hill, and Kylie Paul for sharing their creativity and passion on such a prestigious stage.
Skyline made a HUGE impact this year with two major wins! A special shout-out to Lexi Hill, who took home 4th place—her artwork will be proudly displayed in the Fort Collins office. And an extra round of applause for Mimi Turrill, who earned 2nd place! Mimi’s work is heading all the way to our nation’s capital to be exhibited in the Washington D.C. office (pictured below)!

HEF Scholarship Award Recipients: We have some incredible news to share! Please join us in a huge round of applause for our five outstanding scholarship winners from the Hispanic Education Foundation! This past Wednesday was a truly proud moment for the Skyline family as Samantha, Alexander, Jesus, Alan, and Marisol were honored for their hard work, dedication, and bright futures. We are beyond inspired by their achievements and so fortunate to have these talented students representing our community. Congratulations to our winners—keep shining and reaching for the stars! #WeAreSkylineEveryDay!

Walk of Champions: Next Monday, we will celebrate our spring student-athletes who are headed to state competition with a Walk of Champions! This talented group includes our student athletes who will be competing at the state track meet, our girls golf state qualifier, a student representing the district volleyball team, and our ultimate disc team. We’re so proud of their hard work and dedication — go Falcons!
Feeder Arts Concert On Saturday: Join us this Saturday at 3:00 PM as we celebrate the incredible talent of our performing arts students from across the feeder! Enjoy an afternoon and evening filled with fantastic performances, a fun carnival atmosphere, and delicious food trucks.
Music Fest: Get ready for an incredible afternoon of music! Mark your calendars for May 9th and join us at Vance Brand starting at 3:00 PM to catch our talented Skyline feeder music programs in action! It’s going to be an upbeat, high-energy showcase of our rising stars, and we can’t wait to see the community come together to cheer them on. You won’t want to miss this celebration of song and spirit—see you there!
Last student days for CETC & IC: CETC & IC last class days for underclassmen will be May 15th for A day students and May 18th for B day students. Seniors will finish all classes at the same time on May 14th.
Important iPad information: If your student is staying in SVVSD next academic school year, they will be taking their iPads home over the summer. If your student will be transferring out of SVVSD, iPads must be returned to the library by May 21, 2026. Parents may still purchase iPad insurance. Paying these fees will cover the iPad in case it gets damaged during the summer. Students’ current iPad insurance must be paid in full to be eligible for insurance the following year.
Registration reminders: This is an exciting time as we get ready for the 2026-2027 school year, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Below are important dates and reminders to guide you and your student through the process.
- May 15 at 8:00 AM, 2026: Student Schedules Released. Mark your calendars! Student schedules for the 2026-2027 school year will be available on Friday, May 15 at 8:00 AM. Our counselors will be sending out the schedule repair request form next week, if your student has a problem.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we step into the new year with inspiration and purpose. Together, we’re creating a bright future for every student.
Attendance: Attendance is key to success. We have limited time until the end of the school year. Please make sure your students are here and on time. Also, please remember that absences must be excused within 48 hours. If you have any questions or concerns, students should reach out to their assistant principal as soon as possible. Let’s work together to make prom a night to remember!
Thank you for your continued partnership as we step into the new year with inspiration and purpose.
#WeAreSkylineEveryDay
Sincerely,
Anthony Barela
Principal, Skyline High School

ParentSquare: Our New District Communication Tool
St. Vrain Valley Schools will begin using ParentSquare, a new district communication tool that allows families to receive notifications based on their preferences. St. Vrain’s communications team will pilot ParentSquare for the remainder of the school year with the plan to expand access to schools at the start of the 2026-27 school year. We’re excited about the opportunities ParentSquare offers to streamline communication and will be working towards consolidating several of the tools families currently use into one convenient platform.
Parents and guardians received an email invitation to activate their ParentSquare account. This will allow families to download the mobile app, set language preferences, and choose how and when they receive notifications.
Visit the district website to learn more about ParentSquare.

Booster Club will be sponsoring the 25-26 Senior Sunset. Please see the sign up below. Let’s finish strong supporting our Skyline community.
