Message from Principal
Dear Falcon Parents and Guardians,
October is here and we look forward to continued success by our students. We are anxiously awaiting word from the College Board to see where Skyline is on the AP Honor Roll, which is a prestigious annual recognition that celebrates schools whose AP programs have done outstanding work on supporting students on the path to success. Schools can earn the Honor Roll recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing their school’s college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction. Skyline was recognized as a national bronze level AP school last year, and we increased the number of students accessing the exams last spring. Stay tuned.
The Skyline Performing Arts Program has had an extraordinary week, showcasing the talent and dedication of our students. On Tuesday, our Choir program was in the spotlight, hosting the entire feeder pattern for an incredible day of learning that culminated in a fantastic evening concert. The high notes continued on Wednesday with Band Night at Everly Montgomery Field, where our small, but mighty Band performed with immense Falcon Pride, demonstrating the tremendous growth they continue to achieve week after week. They were joined by our Unified Percussion team, who also delivered a memorable performance. We are thrilled to cap off this week of artistry on Thursday evening with a joint concert featuring our vibrant Mariachi and the Skyline Orchestra feeder ensembles! We are immensely proud of our student musicians and their commitment to excellence.
On Wednesday, Skyline administered our first round of SAT/PSAT testing. This was the official testing date for juniors to complete the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), and we administered a practice SAT test for our freshmen and sophomores. It was a great day as we continue to strive towards academic excellence for our students.
A quick reminder that we are halfway through the semester, with just nine and a half weeks remaining. Please encourage your students to regularly check Schoology and Infinite Campus for any missing assignments to ensure they stay on track and avoid surprises as we approach the end of the semester.
We are here to support you and your family. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of our administrative team.
Sincerely,
Anthony Barela
Principal, Skyline High School
