Message from Principal
Dear Falcon Parents and Guardians,
October is here and we look forward to cooler weather and the beautiful colors associated with fall. I’d like to begin by thanking you for your continued support of our staff and community.
Homecoming week this year was a tremendous success, featuring several highly anticipated events and a week of spirited participation. The week’s themes generated great enthusiasm: Monday was Wild West vs West Coast, Tuesday was Twin Day, Wednesday was Anything But A Backpack, Thursday was Early 2000’s, and Friday culminated in Class Colors/Spirit Day.
The week’s festivities included a historical first for the school: we held our inaugural parade in school history! The energy was infectious, and the excitement carried through to the final events. Our football team was victorious in their game, and the celebration was capped off with a successful dance on Saturday night.
We were delighted to hold our first Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday. It was a pleasure to meet with so many of you and discuss the progress of our students. We trust that these conversations were valuable. As a reminder, please continue to check Schoology and Infinite Campus regularly for any missing assignments, as we are nearly halfway through the semester.
We’ve got an important day next week! We’re thrilled to administer our first round of SAT/PSAT testing next Wednesday, October 8th. This is a key event for all grades: our Juniors will take the official National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), and our Freshmen and Sophomores will take a highly beneficial Practice SAT test. Seniors will get a break from the routine with an asynchronous learning day to focus on college applications and future planning.
Academic Momentum is Building! This testing day is a huge opportunity, and we have high expectations because the academic momentum here is strong! We are incredibly proud to announce that last year’s junior class raised their average score by a phenomenal 70 points on the PSAT/NMSQT, successfully breaking the 900-point barrier! We are confident that this year’s junior class is ready to meet, or even exceed, that incredible performance. Let’s make this testing day count!
We are here to support you and your family. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of our administrative team.
Sincerely,
Anthony Barela
Principal, Skyline High School
