Message from Principal
Dear Falcon Parents/Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well! As temperatures drop, winter is certainly on its way, bringing with it a powerful, focused energy here at Skyline! We just wrapped up another incredibly successful week where the commitment and synergy among our students, staff, and families were absolutely palpable, accelerating our momentum as a true learning community. Now is the moment for commitment: with this week concluded, we are left with only five highly critical weeks remaining in the semester! This tight window demands that our three-way partnership locks in immediately to ensure every single student finishes strong and converts their current fantastic efforts into their strongest possible final outcomes.
This is an electric week for Skyline! We are bursting with pride to announce that our Skyline Football team has officially been selected for the CHSAA state playoffs as the No. 24 seed! This achievement marks a significant moment: it’s the first time the Falcon Football program has qualified for the playoffs in a couple of years! The team has earned this opportunity through incredible effort and resilience all season long. We need the entire Falcon community to show up and cheer them on as they travel to face No. 9 Northfield in the first round of the postseason. The game is this Friday night at 6:00 PM at All City Stadium. Let’s Go, Falcons! Pack the stands and let our spirit be heard all the way in Denver!
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the creativity and talent of our Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) students! Our dedicated VPA students recently designed and constructed a stunning, functional piece of art that was showcased in the Día de Muertos parade last week. Their innovation and beautiful craftsmanship truly honored the tradition and brought joy to the entire community! Please take a moment to read this ARTICLE outlining the amazing work of our talented student artists. It’s a wonderful example of the excellence happening daily in our arts programs!
We want to showcase the outstanding talent of two of our very own! Please join us in congratulating Fernando Gurrola and Shea Archie, who successfully auditioned and were selected for the Western States Honor Orchestra. This is a highly selective honor that brings together top student musicians from across the region. Fernando and Shea will showcase their skills in a concert at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) on November 8th. Their achievement truly reflects the excellence of our music program!
Continuing with excellence we would like to showcase our students of the month for October and our student athletes of the month for October. These students were selected by our staff and have done a great job exemplifying what it means to be a leader. Please see the pictures below:

Looking ahead to the final weeks before Thanksgiving Break, we take pride in the achievements and dedication of our Falcon students. Our commitment to fostering academic excellence and personal growth remains strong. Thank you for being an essential part of our remarkable community. Let’s continue encouraging students to balance academics with involvement in extracurriculars at Skyline. Together, we’re building a foundation for every student’s success.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support. #WeAreSkylineEveryDay!
Sincerely,
Anthony Barela
Principal, Skyline High School
