Message from Principal 

What a fantastic week to wrap up an amazing semester as we head into winter break! I want to thank each of you for your incredible support and dedication—it truly makes all the difference.  As we step into the holiday season, I hope you take time to relax, recharge, and enjoy your wonderful families. You’ve earned it!  Wishing you a joyful and restful break.

This past week was filled with incredible accomplishments by our students!  Please see our list below.  

• Shea Archie from our VPA Academy was named to the Colorado All-State Top Ensemble orchestra as a cellist—an outstanding achievement!
• A big congratulations goes out to our talented juniors, Genesis Salgado and Matthew Legg, for their selection to the prestigious SVVSD All-District Band! Genesis was selected for Flute and Matthew for Clarinet, an honor that highlights their hard work
• We had a fantastic turnout at the Colorado State Thespian Festival this past weekend, where our students truly shined on the state stage! A special congratulations goes to our three students who received Superior ratings, including Raine Schwartz (Costume Construction) and Taben Swain (Solo Musical Theatre), who were both further honored with callbacks for the prestigious Critic’s Choice Showcase, representing the best of the best in their judging rooms. Ash Portillo also earned a Superior distinction for Costume Design. The wave of talent continued with Excellent ratings awarded to Ash Portillo, Ashley Berkowitz, Reese Winters, Chris Haines, Adelyn McElvaney, Riley Lantz, and Dani & Lizzie Conilogue across a variety of acting, musical, and design events. Kaia Moncallo and Penelope Olson also delivered strong performances, receiving Good ratings in Solo Musical Theatre.
• We proudly celebrated three of our outstanding student-athletes who have committed to competing at the collegiate level next year! A huge congratulations goes to Mikaela Stromquist (Girls Soccer) for signing with Hastings College (NE), Brayden Strock (Football) for committing to Carleton University (MN), and Houston Boyce (Football) for joining the University of Northern Colorado. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication, and we wish them the best as they take this exciting next step in their athletic and academic careers!
• Genesis Salgado, one of our exceptional students (see bullet point #2), was recognized as the Longmont Rotary Student of the Month for Skyline.
• Our dedicated STEM students, along with the amazing booster club and our ever growing band brought their creativity and spirit to the Longmont Parade of Lights.
• Another group of student leaders hosted a soup luncheon to raise funds for those in need—a meaningful way to give back.

Attendance is essential for our students’ success. Starting the week back from break, we will update our tardy policy: students with 5 tardies in a week will receive lunch detention. This averages to one tardy per day. These updated expectations were shared with students during advisory classes this week. Thank you for your support in reinforcing the importance of being on time!

As we wrap up the semester, we couldn’t be prouder of our students’ dedication and accomplishments. At Skyline, we are committed to fostering both academic excellence and personal growth, and your support plays a vital role in our success.

A reminder: Winter break runs from Monday, December 22, 2025, through Monday, January 5, 2026. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Vision and Hearing Screening Day

There will be a vision and hearing screening for Skyline students on Thursday January 8th. Your child(ren) may be on the list to be screened. Please encourage them to bring their glasses to school on this day. If the screening indicates your student needs further evaluation, you will be notified by mail. Please consult your school’s health clerk if you have questions or concerns.

Health Information

Cold and Flu season is upon us! Please do what you can to keep illnesses to a minimum. Encourage regular hand washing, especially prior to eating, get a flu shot if you are able, and stay home or keep you students home when they are sick. Students with asthma and other chronic conditions can take special care to maintain their health and avoid illness triggers. Regular sleep and eating habits will also help to prevent you and your students from getting sick or help to make an illness less severe. Please reach out to our school health or attendance teams if you have any questions or need assistance.

iPad Insurance and Fees

Students can still add iPad Insurance, just bring your iPad up to the Library to be inspected by Mrs. Sebring. After inspected the fee will be added in Infinite Campus, and parents can pay either online or in the main office.

For only $12.50 for Semester 2 only, your student’s iPad and case are covered. If there is damage to the case or to the iPad and you do not have insurance, your fees could be between $250-$550 dollars. 

Payments can be made online through Infinite Campus under Fees (preferred) or in person at the office card or exact cash only (change is not available)

The iPad insurance fee will be reduced or waived for students eligible for a free or reduced price lunch under the federal poverty income guidelines and homeless students as defined by McKinney-Vento.

Booster Club

Thank you so much to the students in Mr. Duckworth’s class who designed the most epic Parade of Lights float to represent the talents of Skyline. And also thank you to the members of this community who contributed to the supplies needed.

Mentors and Athletes Needed for Unified Basketball Season!

Our Unified Basketball team is looking for dedicated mentors (student or community partners) and athletes to join us for the upcoming season. Unified Sports pairs athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team for training and competition. This is an amazing opportunity to promote sportsmanship, inclusion, and teamwork in our community. If you have time to dedicate to games one hour a week and want to be a positive influence, we need you! Contact Coach O ([email protected]) to get started. Season starts Jan 5th.

Skyline Parking Permit Registration

Beginning November 1, all students who park on campus are required to have a valid Driver’s License and Skyline High School parking permit displayed in their vehicle.

Parking permit applications are available online. Please follow the link below to complete the registration. There is no charge for 25-26 parking permit.
