Message from Principal

Dear Skyline Families,

It’s truly inspiring to see our students embracing their learning with such energy and passion! This week, they’ve been diving deeper into their classes, building connections with teachers, and making the most of every opportunity to grow. Their enthusiasm and commitment to success are incredible, and we couldn’t be more excited to support them on this journey. We’re looking forward to an amazing semester filled with growth, achievement, and endless possibilities!

Falcons Demonstrate Excellence: 

Last Thursday morning, our incredible Halcones Mariachi made history by opening the state CMEA conference with an outstanding performance! This was the first time a group has ever kicked off the event in this way. Huge congratulations to Mr. Crim and our talented musicians for this amazing achievement!

Congratulations go out to Andrew Archer as Andrew was selected to the SVVSD Honor Band for trombone and performed on Wednesday night.

Students in our AP Government classes took a hands-on approach to learning the legislative process! They crafted their own house bills, presented them to their peers, and held votes to determine if they would move forward. The level of work and engagement was impressive—an incredible way to bring civics to life!

Skyline hosted a middle school robotics tournament on Saturday, welcoming over 35 teams to compete! It was a fantastic day, with many Falcons stepping up to help run the event and our talented DECA students managing the snack bar. A great example of our students’ dedication to giving back to the community!

We celebrated our senior class last week as everyone came together for a photo opportunity as a class.  It has been a great year and we are going to miss this group of students.  

Save the Date:  Our Unified Basketball Day of Champions will be hosted on Saturday, February 22nd.  Please come out and support some great basketball players focusing on community and sportsmanship.  It is a day you won’t want to miss.

Parent Teacher Conferences: Please mark your calendars — Parent teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday, February 12th and Thursday, February 13th. Below are some important details for the conferences:

• Both days are 3:15 pm – 7:45 pm in person
• Appointments will close to parents on Tuesday, February 11th @ 12:00 pm
• Appointment length: 10 minutes.

Practice PSAT/SAT Testing:

• WHEN: Wednesday, February 12th
• WHO:  9th, 10th, 11th grades 
• TIME:  Testing will begin at the start of the day and end by 10:40am 
• WHERE:  Student will test in their Advisory Class

Important Information

• The school day is done after testing
• 12th grade will have an Asynchronous Learning Day
• Breakfast will be available in the morning
• Student can choose a Grab-N-Go lunch after testing

Parents! We need your help with the following:

• Making sure students can log in to their College Board account to be able to take the test
• Student must bring a fully charged  iPad
• Get a good night’s rest
• Encourage them to do their best!

Registration reminders:This is an exciting time as we get ready for the 2025-2026 school year, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Below are important dates and reminders to guide you and your student through the process.  

• December 4, 2024: SHS Registration Window Opened.  Registration began through MyAP in Infinite Campus. Skyline counselors met with rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students to help them make thoughtful course selections for the upcoming school year.
• January 13–29, 2025: Finalizing Course Requests for SHS Students.  Skyline counselors have been meeting with current 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students to review schedules and finalize course requests for the 2025-2026 school year.
• February 3, 2025: Skyline High School Registration Deadline.  The registration window for the 2025-2026 school year closes on Monday, February 3, 2025, for current Skyline students. Timely registration is essential to secure spots in desired courses. Late registrations may result in limited options.
• May 15, 2025: Student Schedules Released.  Mark your calendars! Student schedules for the 2025-2026 school year will be available starting May 15, 2025.

Attendance Update:  Attendance is essential for our students’ success. Starting this week, we will update our tardy policy: students with 5 tardies in a week will receive lunch detention. This averages to one tardy per day. These updated expectations were shared with students during advisory classes prior to break. Thank you for your support in reinforcing the importance of being on time!

Prom & Attendance Update:  Any students who are planning on attending the Junior/Senior Prom on Saturday, April 12  will be allowed to have no more than 5 days of unexcused absences (4 period absences equals 1 day) and/or 25 tardies beginning January 24, 2025  in the 12 weeks leading up to Prom.  Reminder, absences must be excused within 48 hours of the absence.

Half Year iPad Insurance

The half year insurance fee is now available in Infinite Campus. As new students enroll, the student should automatically be assigned the DTS: 1:1 Tech Insurance S2 ONLY 12.50 fee with an expiration date of two (2) weeks. Parents have two (2) weeks to pay the fee before it is automatically voided.

You may also offer the half year insurance to current students who did not opt into insurance in Fall 2024. However, you will need to inspect the iPad first to make sure it is in working condition before offering the insurance.

Spring 2025 Insurance: $12.50

Tours:

Do you have friends, family, or coworkers who would like to learn more about what Skyline High School has to offer for their students? Skyline High School offers monthly school tours! Please direct any tour requests to the Skyline High School Tour Reservation.

Student Fees:

• When making a cash payment in the office please make sure to bring exact amount (no change available) credit or debit preferred. You can also pay Fees online through Infinite Campus portal.

Academic Support:

Achievement Acceleration Academy(AAA):

• Sixty minutes of targeted instruction in math for all grade levels.
• In addition, some students may have support focused on high school expectations and executive functioning.
• Daily snacks will be provided.
• There is no cost to families.
• Dates & Times:
  • January 21st to May 9th, 2025 from 2:50 p.m.— 3:50 p.m.
    • Mon-Thurs  2:50-3:50 in Ms. Cook’s Room 256
