Message from Principal
Dear Falcon Parents and Guardians,
We’ve had an incredible start to the school year, and the energy in our building has been nothing short of inspiring! Thank you for your ongoing support as we begin another year of growth, learning, and opportunity together. Our top priority remains your child’s success, and we are excited to partner with you in helping every student thrive.
It’s truly wonderful to see our Falcons back in school five days a week—filling our classrooms, hallways, and activities with positivity and enthusiasm. Their excitement to learn and connect with one another sets the tone for a strong year ahead, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the privilege of working alongside both our students and families each day.
Activities are in full flight: We’re excited to share that extracurricular activities are now underway at Skyline! From athletics to clubs and performing arts, our Falcons are diving into opportunities to connect, grow, and shine outside the classroom. Be sure to check our Skyline High School website regularly for updates and upcoming events—we don’t want you to miss a thing!
Code of Conduct: Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.
To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here.
Again, thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly at Skyline.
Skyline Student of the Month Awards: This year, we will again recognize students who demonstrate excellence and are nominated by their teachers. Parents will receive an email each month announcing the award recipients.
We are here to support you and your family. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any member of our administrative team.
Sincerely,
Anthony Barela
Principal, Skyline High School
Cafeteria Update
We’re looking to start an a la carte sale for breakfast and lunch at Skyline High School. This is a great way to give students more options. Starting Monday August 25th.
Breakfast
- Hours: A la carte will be offered from 7:20AM to 8:00 AM. This is a smart approach, as it allows students to purchase items before classes begin without disrupting the school day.
- Free Breakfast: Free breakfast will still be available from 7:20 to 10:00 AM, so students have a choice between the two options.
Lunch
- Hours: The a la carte line will open right after the main lunch line begins serving.
- Location: Line 2 will be dedicated to a la carte items.
Important Notes for Students
- Exact Change Only: This is the most crucial part of the process. Students will not receive change back for a la carte purchases.
- Remaining Funds: Any money a student overpays will be added directly to their lunch account.
- Adding Money: Students can also add money to their lunch accounts online.

Important iPad Updates for the 2025–2026 School Year
St. Vrain’s District Technology Services has made several updates to student iPads for the upcoming school year to support a focused and secure digital learning environment both at school and at home. One key update is the implementation of a new internet filter, Securely, which adds an extra layer of protection to iPads by blocking certain types of websites.

SHS iPad Update and we are Going Cell Phone-Free During Class Time
Skyline sent out information a number of times this summer in order to outline our Cell Phone Norms and expectations. In case you missed those communications below is what was shared with our community. * = new information.
Dear Skyline Families,
At Skyline High School, we are dedicated to providing the best possible learning environment where every student can thrive academically. Research and our own experience show that limiting cell phone use during instructional time helps students stay focused, engaged, and ready to succeed. Please click on this link to access the classroom norm. As a district we have updated the iPad settings for all secondary students. Please click on this link to access our letter outlining these changes.
To support this, SHS will be implementing a school-wide cell phone-free norm during class time. At the start of each class period, students will store their phones in a designated area—such as their backpack in the classroom—and retrieve them at the end of class. This simple shift will help maximize learning and minimize distractions.
If you need to reach your student during the day, please contact our main office at (720) 494-3741, and we’ll ensure they get your message.
If a student does not follow this expectation, we will utilize the *district’s adopted practice for responsible use of technology and also meet with an administrator to review expectations. We will also review these with every student during the first days of school.
Thank you for partnering with us to build a focused, productive, and academically rich environment for all students. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us—we’re here to support you. Go Falcons!
