David Frick used to be a trial lawyer. One of the questions he gets asked most often by students is why he would choose a career as a high school teacher over that of an attorney. He never has to answer this question himself; invariably, another student in the class will come up with the answer for him. He loves it when students demonstrate critical thinking skills, as that is, in fact, the answer. When he is not savoring the brilliance of his students, he enjoys reading and writing whenever he can. As Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” At home, his two sons, Eli (18) and Leo (14), keep him motivated to stay active and get outdoors as a family.
